"Girl From Abilene" - Ernest Tubb
A-Side On The Single "Girl From Abilene / Little Ole Band Of Gold" (1961)
Intro
Verse 1
Met Her In A Town Called Abilene
Prettiest Girl I Know I've Ever Seen
Told Her I Would Buy Her Fancy Things
Like A Shiny Red Sports Car, Dress Her Like A Movie Star
And On Her Hand, I'd Put A Diamond Ring
Verse 2
Told Her Back East, I Was A Big Shot
Three Plantations, Had A Great Big Yacht
She Said, "You Know, I Think I Like You Lots
So I'll Tell You What I'll Do, I'll Just Go Back With You
And We'll Find Out If This Is Love Or Not"
Bridge
And Then Her Eyes Began To Shine As We Sipped The Cheery Wine
Making Plans For Our Wedding Day
The Lies Had All Been Told, I Had No Pot Of Gold
And So I Tipped My Hat And Walked Away
Verse 3
Walking Down The Road Of Regret
Thinking Of The Girl That I Had Met
Wishing Somehow She Could Share My Grief
But I'll Stop And Smile Awhile, Then I'll Walk Another Mile
Then Goodbye To This Girl From Abilene
Outro
It's Goodbye To This Girl Of Abilene
