Intro
Verse 1
We Chase The Wind With Empty Hands,
Trade Golden Hours For Shifting Sands.
We Build Our Barns, We Count Our Gold,
But Joy Slips Through The Things We Hold.
Pre-Chorus
As It Was Said So Long Ago,
Desire Will Never Fill The Soul...
Chorus
Why Don't We Enjoy The Sunset, In Our Own Backyard?
We're Dreaming Of The Distance, While The Beauty Isn't Far.
We Hunger For Tomorrow, But Today Is Who We Are-
So Why Don't We Enjoy The Sunset, In Our Own Backyard?
Verse 2
A Thousand Meals, A Thousand Days,
Still Appetite Won't Fade Away.
We Labor Hard, We Climb So High,
But Peace Won't Live In What We Buy.
Pre-Chorus
The Eyes Can See, The Heart Can Rest,
If We Would Learn That Less Is Blessed...
Chorus
Why Don't We Enjoy The Sunset, In Our Own Backyard?
We're Chasing Down The Future, While The Present Bears The Scars.
We're Rich In All We've Gathered, But Poor In Who We Are-
So Why Don't We Enjoy The Sunset, In Our Own Backyard?
Instrumental
Verse 3
He Had It All-Wealth, Honor, Fame,
But Couldn't Taste The Joy He Claimed.
A Wondering Soul, He Said, Might Know
More Peace Than Those Who Never Slow.
Verse 4
So Light The Fire, And Pour The Tea,
Let Silence Teach What Eyes Can See.
The Gift Is Not The Distant Star,
It's Here And Now, It's Where We Are.
Bridge
Vanity, Vanity-He Cried To The Sky,
All Is Chasing Wind Until We Learn To Live And Die.
The Sunset's Not A Metaphor, It's Burning In The Yard-
So Why Don't We Enjoy It, Why Don't We Let Down Our Guard?
Final Chorus
Why Don't We Enjoy The Sunset, In Our Own Backyard?
We're Writing Songs Of Longing, While The Light Is Slipping Hard.
We’ve All Been Told The Wisdom, Now It's Ours To Disregard-
Or Maybe We'll Enjoy The Sunset, In Our Own Backyard.
