The song was written by Andre, Ollie Jacobs, Phillip Jacobs, Glen Goldsmith, and Bubbler Ranx, who appears as a featured vocalist. Produced by Ollie Jacobs, "Mysterious Girl" was first released as a single by Melodian Records in Australia on 14 August 1995 and was issued in the United Kingdom the same year, but it was not until a re-release in 1996 that the song became a commercial success there. The accompanying music video was filmed in Thailand.
